AfterwOrds or AfterwArds?

By Ayushi Trivedi

I choked on words when someone asked,

If something changed me this year.

Shifted my face to where it was masked,

Before I chose to answer or adhere.

Will words ever be enough?

To describe a roller coaster of emotions..

That hit you and make you cough,

From the reality of change and motion?

A mind that grew is a mind that changed,

Was my belief from the very start.

An unkempt place that looks arranged,

Is a dangerous place for our little heart.

The overpowered misery looked over me,

When i bowed down to tie my laces,

Is life supposed to be filled with glee?

Or sweat and blood in equal traces.

Is a year enough for us to leave the words

To disguise them into something that works?

I believe that I have changed after words

And favoured when I’ve said afterwards.
