You look through it, it’s all jumbled
Just like a 1000 mirror pieces crumbled
“Can you put you price on it”? They asked
Half were silenced, half fumbled
Neither there’s clarity nor a vision
People use it, like it’s their bloody mission!
A few reflections might be distorted
But how to perceive it, was never our decision
What am I talking about? You will never know
Wonder, if you’re still thinking, hello?
A stanza, a rhyme, a sentence, a poem
Well, that’s not quite the flow!
Just like a Kaleidoscope, her body’s not a toy
You look close enough, it’s beyond physical joy
It has wounds, it has scars, it’s not always decked up
And this makes a girl, A GIRL and a boy, just a boy...
If only we saw it, beyond temptations
If we only we felt it, beyond observations
If only, there were less ‘if only's’ here
If only we said this, without hesitation
Our acts are unjust, out thought are shameful
Regular objectifying would feel so damn painful
She can be slim, she can be fat, she might not be fair too
Be it your mum or your girlfriend, she’s always so so graceful!

About the author:
Hello Warriors! Aaryan Kelkar here! So am I a writer? Not quite. I just think I can express myself better. I’m a student film maker and artiste. Since childhood, “expressing” myself has been something of a tiny lil’ superpower of mine. And now, in my 20's, I realised that we can use this super power to convey, curate & create emotions which are often left unsaid.
Note from the author:
So here we are! GirlUp Jeevika announced it’s monthly prompt & I thought, “why not?” The Kaleidoscope Theory talks about, how unfortunate we are to misunderstand a woman’s body. The fragility, yet rigidity it holds; the caring, yet powerful sense it holds… it’s this irony that makes a woman’s body, something to be protected in today’s society (sadly). Here’s raising a glass to all those warriors who are comforatble and not comfortable in your skin. Remember, you’re all beautiful :)
